About the client

Our client is a UK based technology company providing telemetry and data analytics solutions for monitoring and managing water and wastewater networks.

Their technology supports infrastructure teams by collecting and analyzing live operational data from distributed field devices, helping improve visibility across complex utility networks.

About the platform

The client needed a mobile application that would support field technicians during deployment and maintenance of telemetry devices.

The goal was to create a practical field operations tool that could help technicians manage devices, verify live data and perform on site activities more efficiently.

Mood Up was responsible for the end to end design and development of the mobile application, including UI/UX design, frontend development and delivery of a cross platform solution for iOS and Android.

Designed for field technicians

The application was built around the realities of field work.

Technicians needed a clear and reliable interface that would help them interact with telemetry devices in demanding on site conditions.

The UX was therefore designed to prioritize:

  • Fast access to device information
  • Clear presentation of live telemetry data
  • Efficient deployment workflows
  • Easier device verification
  • Reduced friction during maintenance activities
  • Consistent operation across mobile platforms

The client specifically highlighted that the application needed to support real field operations rather than simply expose technical functionality.

From telemetry data to practical field workflows

The challenge was not only to connect users with IoT devices.

The application needed to translate complex telemetry workflows into a mobile experience that technicians could use effectively in the field.

Mood Up worked closely with the client to understand how devices were deployed, monitored and maintained, then used this knowledge to shape the product experience.

The result was a user friendly application designed to support live data verification and day to day telemetry device management.

The challenge

IoT field applications combine several layers of complexity.

The product had to support technicians working with connected hardware, live data and infrastructure processes while remaining intuitive enough to use during daily operations.

Key challenges included:

  • Supporting telemetry device deployment
  • Handling live data verification
  • Designing for field conditions
  • Creating consistent workflows across iOS and Android
  • Simplifying complex IoT interactions
  • Adapting the product as priorities evolved

The application therefore required both strong mobile development expertise and a good understanding of the underlying operational environment.

The solution

Mood Up created a cross platform mobile application tailored to the needs of field technicians.

The project covered comprehensive UI/UX design, frontend development and mobile implementation.

Rather than focusing only on feature delivery, the team worked with the client to refine workflows and challenge assumptions where necessary.

This consultative approach helped translate the complexity of the client's IoT ecosystem into a practical product that supported technicians during deployment, live data verification and maintenance tasks.

Mood Up acted as both a development partner and technology consultant.

Our scope included:

  • UI/UX design
  • Cross platform mobile app development
  • Frontend development
  • iOS and Android implementation
  • Product consulting
  • Workflow optimization
  • Support for telemetry device management
  • MVP delivery

A team of four Mood Up specialists was assigned to the engagement. Communication was handled primarily through virtual meetings.

More than a development vendor

One of the strongest elements of the collaboration was the advisory role Mood Up played throughout the project.

The client emphasized that the team did not simply execute requirements.

Mood Up challenged assumptions, suggested improvements and helped make practical product and business decisions based on the realities of field operations and the IoT environment.

That approach made the collaboration feel more like a technology partnership than a standard vendor relationship.
