Turning World Cup excitement into an interactive brand experience

Rexona was a promotional application created for Unilever during the 2014 World Cup.

The goal of the app was to engage football fans through an interactive mobile experience connected with the energy of the tournament. Instead of using a standard campaign landing page, the brand gave users a more dynamic way to interact with Rexona products, test their football knowledge, take part in moderated discussions, and compete for prizes.

Mood Up developed the application as a campaign-focused digital product combining quiz mechanics, live engagement, product discovery, and a built-in game.

Fan engagement built around the World Cup

The app was designed to capture users’ attention during one of the biggest sports events in the world.

Users could take part in quizzes and open questions moderated live, which helped create a more interactive relationship between the brand and football fans. This format made the campaign more engaging than a static promotional experience and encouraged users to return to the app during the tournament.

A built-in game to increase interaction

Rexona included a built-in AndEngine game that gave users another way to participate in the campaign.

The game added an entertainment layer to the product experience and helped users spend more time inside the app. By combining gameplay with campaign mechanics, the app supported stronger brand engagement and made the promotion feel more memorable.

Product discovery through interactive content

The application also included Rexona product discovery features.

Users could explore selected products in a more engaging context, connected with the campaign and competition flow. This helped turn product promotion into part of the interactive experience rather than a separate advertising message.
